Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do surgical technologists do?

Surgical technologists are allied health professionals with at least an associate degree program, meaning they are certified specialists who provide direct patient care, tech support and diagnostics alongside other healthcare providers. Surgical technologists have the first interactions with patients and set the tone for surgery.

Surgical technologists may also prepare a sterile processing area, review the surgical procedure, restock the surgical supplies list and surgeon’s preferences, pass necessary instruments to surgeons and more.
