My name is Christina Neely. I'm 34 years old, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I am a two-time graduate of Rasmussen University. I'm also the daughter of two drug addict parents, a domestic violence survivor, and bipolar.
I was taken away from my mom at four due to her drug use. Then I was adopted by my aunt Gracie and my uncle. From there, I went to my grandma, back to my mom, and I spent a majority of my childhood being passed around from family to family.
Enrolling in Rasmussen was a really big turning point in my life, particularly in my career. I was kind of stuck at the bottom of the totem pole. I was actually a receptionist, I was just taking calls. So when I was able to get my associate's degree, it allowed me to move from receptionist to a support representative, and as soon as I got my bachelor's, I was able to become the team lead, and now I'm in line to be a supervisor.
[Husband] She fought through everything that had happened with us getting married, having our daughter. All the things that could delay her and stop her, she just fought through it and kept moving forward.
In my career, I don't think that I would've ever been able to reach this level in my company if I didn't have my degrees. I really loved going to school at Rasmussen University. My favorite part of the online program would be the structure and the scheduling. Five and a half weeks on, two weeks off. It gives you enough time away from school that you can get a break, but not so much that you get complacent. When I was younger, I came up with a list of goals, and my goals were that I wanted to buy a house because I didn't have stability. I wanted to have a family, I wanted to have a career, and I wanted to have my education.
