12 helpful student resources you should have on your radar
1. Online tutoring resources
Students can access peer and professional tutors from anywhere, including 24/7 professional tutoring in math. These scheduled sessions provide students with an opportunity to connect with classmates and Library and Learning Services staff who can help get them back on track. These tutors can help students navigate challenging subjects, identify helpful resources and provide a solid sounding board for talking through what they may be struggling with.
“Everyone has their point where they’re overwhelmed, frustrated,” says Christina Pierson, a peer tutor and Information Technology student. “Everyone needs somebody who says, ‘It’s okay, I relate.’”

Additionally, a virtual writing lab is available in the online tutoring platform, along with flash cards to help study for upcoming tests or quizzes.
2. Peer mentoring
Making the adjustment into life as a college student can be tricky—there are new terms, schedules to balance, systems to navigate and more. One of the best ways to get the hang of it all is to learn from other students who’ve been in your shoes. That’s where the Rasmussen University peer mentoring program comes in. This program is designed to help students get acclimated to college life. If you’re in need of a little help, guidance or just someone to talk to about your experience, an established student mentor can assist you with advice for handling non-academic subjects.
3. Live chat with a librarian
Whether you’re having issues with finding sources for a paper or you need assistance with proper citations, you can count on one of the University's online librarians to help. Before beginning your live chat, sign in with your Rasmussen University email address, and let the librarian know you’re a student. From there, you’ll have access to their wealth of knowledge and expertise.
4. Library and Learning Services live webinars
The Library and Learning Services (LLS) team offers periodic live webinars covering topics of interest to the University’s new students, like mastering technology, time management, test-taking skills, APA citations, online library resources and using the NoodleTools citation builder. Can’t make it during the scheduled time? No worries—each webinar is recorded during the live session and is typically available the next day for viewing on the Webinar Series Guide.
5. Career Services
Online student support doesn’t stop at earning a degree—there are also several resources on hand to help you find a job. Rasmussen University offers Career Services support to all students, with a wide variety of self-service resources, like resume-building guides, interviewing techniques and job search strategies available through the Student Portal. They’re a valuable resource to train and empower students and graduates in their job search—providing valuable resources to help you succeed.
Career Services advisors (CSAs) help you navigate Rasmussen University’s career-focused online tools and resources, with informative webinars, career fairs and services like JobConnect (see #6, below). You can connect with a CSA via the Student Portal or by scheduling a mini-appointment via email.
6. Job search resources
Rasmussen University students also have access to an online employment database, JobConnect. This is a free, easy-to-use resource that features job postings in campus communities and across the nation. It’s also available as an app so you can search postings anywhere.
