Located about 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City, the Overland Park campus location is conveniently located and easy to get to as it sits near the intersections of two major thoroughfares—Interstates 35 and 435.
Campus Director Jay Bucholz, a 10-year veteran of Rasmussen , says this economically driven area of the heartland is consistently growing, and his staff at KC/Overland Park are excited to be a part of it.
For Bucholz, his drive comes from successful outcomes for students. “We have student-focused core values, and our campus is designed to focus on our students’ success,” Bucholz says.
What is the history of Rasmussen University and the Kansas City/Overland Park campus?
Rasmussen University has been helping students prepare for successful careers since 1900, with career-focused degrees and comprehensive student support. Rasmussen University has grown dramatically from its humble beginnings as the Rasmussen Practical School of Business and has since expanded to 23 campuses across the Midwest and Florida. Both the Kansas City/Overland Park and Topeka campuses opened in February 2013.
Rasmussen University is regionally accredited, with campus locations in six states and program offerings in seven schools of study: Business, Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, Justice Studies, Technology and Design.
Where is the Kansas City/Overland Park campus located?
Located in the heart of Johnson County, and near the border of Kansas and Missouri, the Rasmussen University KC/Overland Park campus is easy to get to and naturally attracts students from both states. The campus is located on College Boulevard, just east of Quivira Road and south of Valleybrooke Park, so students can enjoy a serene escape for studying. This location is approximately a 20-minute drive from downtown Kansas City via I-35, so students get the best of both city attractions and suburban comfort.

- Professional Nursing (ADN): The Rasmussen University Professional Nursing Associate’s degree program in Kansas City/Overland Park (with an off-campus instructional site in Topeka), Kansas is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).1
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing: The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program at Rasmussen University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).2
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): The Master of Science in Nursing degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).2
Students can also enroll in any of Rasmussen University’s online programs through the Kansas City/Overland Park campuses and have access to on-campus support.

Fully online student in the area? Not a problem! These campus spaces exist to support all students and provide a “home base” for anyone enrolled at the University.

The Rasmussen University Kansas City/Overland Park campus is connected to the community, partnering with professional organizations and several community groups helping to make continued, positive impacts. Rasmussen University is a firm believer in giving back to the communities it serves and encourages campus staff in all locations to seek out worthwhile local causes to support. The Kansas City/Overland Park campus takes this to heart and has been involved with the Alzheimer’s Association - Heart of America chapter and the Harvesters Community Food Network.
