New to Rasmussen University? It’s only natural to want to get the inside scoop on what to expect from your local campus. We spoke with campus director Erica O'Gorman and asked her to highlight the important information every newcomer needs to know before stepping foot on the Rasmussen University Eagan campus.
What is the history of Rasmussen University and the Eagan campus?
Rasmussen University has a long history of building community through education. Since first opening its doors as the Rasmussen Practical School of Business in Stillwater, Minnesota, in 1900, Rasmussen University has since grown to 23 campuses and has graduated thousands of students from a variety of academic programs. The University now offers dozens of programs across the Schools of Business, Design, Education, Health Sciences, Justice Studies, Nursing and Technology.
As the University has grown over the years, so have the number of campus locations. The Eagan campus was opened in the late 1980s to accommodate more students from the Twin Cities area. In 2021, the Eagan campus completed a move into a new facility just three miles down Pilot Knob Road. This move helped accommodate large, high-tech classrooms, new computer labs and equipment, and updated labs and simulation equipment for Nursing and Health Sciences programs.
Where is the Eagan campus located?
You can find the Eagan campus at 1305 Corporate Center Drive, Eagan, Minnesota, 55122, situated to the south of Saint Paul, just off of Interstate 494 and Pilot Knob Road. Looking for fun things to do in the area? You can shop ‘til you drop at the nearby outlet mall, Twin Cities Premium Outlets, or at the Mall of America, which is less than ten minutes away from campus. For football fans, the new Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, which hosts the Minnesota Vikings, is only three miles from campus—perfect for when you’d like to catch a practice during the dog days of training camp. Like with any of our Twin Cities area locations, there’s a wealth of options for nearby things to do.
If you’re one to worry about parking, don’t stress. The campus is located on the first two floors of a business center that includes ample parking for a seamless commute.
What programs are offered at the Eagan campus?
Students can enroll in any of Rasmussen University’s 40+ online programs through the Eagan campus and have access to many residential programs that include a mix of on-campus and online learning as well. Programs are taught by qualified professionals across seven schools of study, including Business, Design, Education, Health Sciences, Justice Studies, Nursing and Technology.
In addition to the online program offerings, the Eagan campus is a hub for on-campus instruction for several programs, including the Medical Assisting and Nursing programs.
Additionally, students who are enrolled in the Law Enforcement Associate’s degree program through the Eagan campus will complete the skills training portion of the program at the HERO Training Center in Cottage Grove. This 47,500-square-foot, immersive training center offers all of the simulation equipment needed for Law Enforcement students to refine their skills in realistic environments. This includes shooting simulators, a 12-lane shooting range, a mats room with movable walls, and outdoor homes that can be configured to reflect real-life law enforcement situations.
What resources and support services are offered at the Eagan campus?
Need some help with your studies? We offer tutoring services and resources both on campus and online for our students. When you need a place to study—or a break from studying—head on over to our on-campus indoor and outdoor student commons, our student lounge, or grab a spot at one of our two computer labs. Additionally, resources from Career Services and Library and Learning Services teams are offered online and are available to all students.
The Eagan campus also hosts a top-of-the-line Simulation Center and updated labs used for the Medical Assisting and the School of Nursing programs. These include an entire nursing suite created to emulate an actual hospital setting, including a simulation labor and delivery and emergency room.
“This gives the students an opportunity to see and feel what it would potentially be like in a real medical emergency,” says O’Gorman.
